Emma attended OU Gymnastics Camp again this year. She learned so much and had such a wonderful time while she was there-all around a great camp experience! One of the things Emma loves about this camp is that they get to work on the next level skills. She got to learn back handspring step-outs on the beam, giant-giant-layout flyaway on the bars, and round off back handspring back layout on floor!

While working on their skills at camp, if a gymnast masters a skill, the coach will yell "solo" and everyone stops to watch that gymnast perform her skill. Emma performed two solos this year- one on beam and one on bars!
Here she is performing a Backhandspring StepOut on Beam
(Obviously I was not there during the day but she was eager to show me her skills when I came to pick her up at the end of the day)
Giant-Giant-Layout Flyaway on Bars
Here she is doing a Round Off Back Handspring Layout
On the last day of Camp they have an exhibition for all the parents. Each gymnast gets to pick a skill they learned from the week to perform along with performing a dance they learned with their group.
Emma chose to perform her Giant-Giant-Layout Flyaway
Camp Exhibition Dance
Each night they have special activities-Open Gym, movies, and one night they also have a Skit/Lip Sync Contest. Emma did a Lip Sync with some of her teammates to the Lazy Song.
And here is a fun little skit their Camp Coaches did
On the last day of camp they had a handstand contest by age. Emma won in her age group so at the Camp Exhibition they had the winners from each age group do a contest. Emma didn't win but it was fun to watch the older girls who were winning try to knock each other down!
They also do a "Worker of the Week" for each level. The gymnast who worked the hardest throughout the week of camp got a poster signed by all the OU Gymnasts. Emma was awarded this for the second year in a row!! What an amazing accomplishment for her :)
