OU Gymnastics Camp

OU Gymnastics Camp June 13-17
The Oklahoma Womens Gymnastic team placed 2nd at National's this year. They are a talented group of athletes and we had the opportunity to send Emma to their camp this summer! It was such an amazing experience for her!

During the week of camp the gymnasts worked on new skills. When a gymanst would get a skill, their coach would yell "solo" and everyone in the gym would stop and the gymnast would perform thier skill. Some of the skills Emma worked on at camp:

1) Bars~ flyaways

2) Beam~backwalkover on high beam

3)Vault~ front handspring over vault

4)Floor~ back tucks, front flip

Emma did 2 solos this year at camp. Backwalkover on the high beam and front flip from trampoline to floor.

The final day of camp the girls had morning rotations and then the parents were invited to a Camp Exhibition where each gymnast got to perform a skill of their choice. Emma chose her backwalkover on the high beam.

Each group also performed a dance routine.

The campers were separated into groups by skill level. One gymnast out of each group was awarded 'Worker of the Week'. This was a gymast who worked hard and gave the most effort and enthusiasm throughout the entire week. Alexa and Emma were each awarded worker of the week in their group! What an awesome accomplishment for both Success gymnasts!

Each evening there was a planned activity. Monday & Tuesday night there was a choice of open gym or a movie. Wednesday night there was lip sync contest. Emma and Alexa practiced tirelessly every night on their lip sync. The did the song Enie Meenie by Justin Bieber and Sean Kingston. There were about 20 different groups and Emma and Alexa got 1st Place!! They really did a great job on it!
