It is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8

Christmas Day

Christmas morning the girls were up with excitement! Santa had left a note for the girls and the cookies and carrots had been eaten by Santa and his reindeer! We spent the morning opening presents at home and relaxing. Some of the highlights were the girls got their dad an I Touch and I had already got my new camera (my old one broke so I had to open it early)! Santa was very generous to the girls so they must have been very good this past year!

My favorite gift this year was an ornament Emma made for us at school ~ she wrapped it all by herself and put it under the tree

Around noon we headed to my mom and dads to do a quick little family christmas. Just mom & dad, Jason the girls and I, Mindy and her kids, and Adam & Jill. We opened a few presents, ate, and then headed to my Grandma and Grandpa Lingrens. Not everyone made it as the roads were not that great but we enjoyed our time together!

Christmas night was spent at our house with Bilie & Rich, Tif, Chris & kids, Mindy & kids. We had a great time opening presents (again), eating (again) and spending family time together!

Christmas Eve

We had our first annual Christmas at the Cabin this year! My parents moved this past fall into a log cabin. It is beautiful. The scenery is beautiful. We are so happy for them. We combined all of our Christmas' into one and I have to say it was great. We didn't have to rush as much to get from place to place and we just got to enjoy each others company! The weather held off until late afternoon wich meant that everyone made it home safely! We spent most of Christmas Eve day eating, celebrating Jesus' birthday, opening gifts, singing along with Grampa Ted and his guitar, building a snowman, sledding & having a snowball fight!

We went to the candlelight Christmas Eve Service at Trinity. It was a great service and everyone was there celebrating Jesus' birth together. My mom & dad, Adam & Jill, Mindy, Madi, Mason and Jaxson, Rich & Billie, Tif, Chris Hannah & Noah. It was truly a blessed night! When we went to leave church it had started snowing and it was beautiful!

We went home and the girls got there pj's on and put out the cookies and milk for santa and the carrots for the reindeer! We read the Night Before Christmas and then we all nestled in our beds!

For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah9:6

Bell Ringing

Every year our family volunteers for the Salvation Army. We do it on Christmas Eve from 12-1. It is just a great reminder in the midst of the busy Holiday that there are many people less fortunate than we are. That Christmas is about giving, and not recieving. That there are so many generous people in the world. That even doing a little bit helps tremendously. We are blessed!

Serve one another in love. Galations 5:13

Christmas Caroling & Christmas Party

Trinity is blessed to have the most wonderful 1st & 2nd grade teacher ~ Mrs. Sprengeler! She is full of energy and truly loves teaching every single child! Every year she takes the first and second graders caroling around downtown Boone! We ended up going to 17 places:

1. Spring Green Lawn Care
2. Fareway Warehouse
3. KWBG Radio (They got to sing on air!!)
4. Peterson & Houston
5. Hy-Vee
6. Boone County Hospital
7. Mrs. Sprecher (former Room Grandma)
8.Fareway Grocery Store
9.Patterson Dental
10. Walmart
11. Kruck Plumbing
12. Library
13.Sherriff's Office
14. Boone Courthouse (Grandma Donna)
15. Eastern Star
16. Courtyard Terrace
17. Mirror Image

It ended up taking us 4 hours to do all 17 places ~ but it was so fun to see how much everyone loved having us come and carol! When we got back to the school it was time for the Christmas Party! The kids had so much fun doing their Secret Santa gifts and having cookies and Hot Cocoa for snack!

And as we were leaving Emma showed me her Snow Globe she made....

Christmas Programs

The Trinity K-2 Chior was asked to sing at the Annual Ecumenical Christmas Concert that supports Habitat for Humanity. It was held at the Boone High School Sunday Dec. 6th ~ we really enjoyed it and it was such a neat experience for the them!

Friday December 11 was Emma's Trinity Christmas Program * Ring out the Good News * Emma has been taking piano lessons so she was able to play a short piece before the program started and did a great job!

Here are a few verses they had to memorize as a class for the program:
Above all the roar of the cities, And over the hills and the dells, With a message of peace to the nations, Ring the beautiful Bethlehem bells.

We've got some earth shattering news!

If you had the best news in the world what would you do with it?

Emma was also finished with her memory work for the year so she was chosen to say an additional verse..

Again, Paul writes in Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were sinners, Christ died for us."

Some of the songs they sang were...

"O Come, O Come, Emmanuel"
"God Loves Me Dearly"
Carol Medley "Silent Night', "The First Noel", "Hark the Herold", " O Come all Ye Faithful" & "For He alone is Worthy"
"Shout to the North"
"Ring out the Good News"
"Joy to the World"

They always do such a wonderful Christmas Program and the message was so clear ~ If you had the best news in the world what would you do with it????

Sunday December 20th the girls had their Sunday School Christmas Program! We are so fortunate to belong to a wonderful Church!
Jaxson, Lauren and Hannah

Emma had another speaking part at her Sunday School Program:
"When the shepherds heard all this wonderful news their fear dissappeared, they hurried to find their savior, and when they found him, in a manger, as the angel had said they would, Joy filled their hearts."

I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:10-11
