It is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.

Homework Project

In Science Emma's class is studying vibrations and the variety of sounds produced. They were instructed to work with their parents (or grandparents) to construct a uniquely creative playable instrument using a wide variety of materials. Emma chose to make a Finger Piano/Bobby Piano. She went to my parents house tonight and made it with Grandpa Ted. They had a fun time working together and the piano turned out really good!

They are having a contest and some of the categories to be awarded are: best sound, most creative, best looking & best use of recycled material! Stay tuned for results!

I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowleldge, and in all manner of workmanship. Exodus 31:3

When You Thought I Wasn't Looking....

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there was a God I could always talk to, and I learned to trust in him.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend that was sick, and I learned that we all have to take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw how you handled your responsibilites, even when you didn't feel good, and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking I learned most of life's lessons that I needed to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking I looked at you and wanted to say, "Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking!"

The righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Romans 3:22-24

Field Trip

Today we went on a field trip with Emma's class to Stephens Auditorium to see the musical Junie B. Jones. There was lots of singing & dancing and we did a lot of laughing! It was just as entertaining as the books and we had a great time! Oh, and when they seated us we got to sit in the front row!!! Emma LOVES to read Junie B. Jones books and some of her favorites include: Junie B. First Grader Dumb Bunny, Boo...and I Mean it!, & Jingle Bells, Batman Smells! (P.S. So Does May.) They are just all so good!

Mrs. Sprengeler had all of the students bring their journals to write in (you know ~ since Junie B. always writes in her journal) while they were waiting for the musical to start. It was such a fabulous idea and kept them busy right up until it started!
After the play we went to the ISU Library to view the large Grant Wood murals. They have been learning about Grant Wood's work and are currently replicating The American Gothic.

Temptation

Today in Sunday School the girls learned about Jesus being tempted by the devil. Lauren has been tempted to play during Sunday School but today she resisited temptation. Look at her beautiful papers!

Busy Weekend!

Our weekend started off with a sleepover for Emma at Success. The Levels 4, 5 & 6 all stayed the night at the gym! Emma was so excited and had soo much fun! They had snacks, open gym time and watched a movie. She told me they slept on the trampoline and woke up in the middle of the night because they heard noises. What a fun night for the girls!
Saturday morning I took Emma to Open Gym and Lauren and I headed to Borders. We had hot cocoa and a caramel apple fritter (so good!). We looked around and read books. We found the cutest Valentines for Lauren to hand out next year and they were 50% off! Gotta love a good find!

Every February Trinity holds a Skating Party for it's monthly PTL get together. It is always such a good time and the girls love skating! They each brought a friend: Lauren brought Hannah and Emma brought Alexa. It was such a fun afternoon~ there were lots of falls and lot of laughs!

Sunday we held a Bridal Shower for my cousin Laura who is getting married March 20.

Preschool Registration

Monday was preschool registration. Lauren is so excited for preschool so I took her with me to register. She had fun checking out her classroom, although it is the same room she has Sunday School in so it was not "new" to her!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

How sweet is this?

Even youths grow tired and weary...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

American Girl Place

We have been wanting to visit American Girl Place for the longest time. We had the opportunity to visit an American Girl Place in Atlanta and the girls enjoyed it, however, we had heard from many people how amazing the "Real" place was. And it was AMAZING!!! I regret not making lunch reservations but we were not sure when we would get to the store as we were traveling as a group, so we will be sure to do it next time! I will also take each girl separately to enjoy the experience with each of them individually!

The girls had a photo shoot done with thier dolls. They got their pictures on the front of their very own American Girl Magazine! They also received a card that they can swipe anytime they visit the American Girl Place and their photo with thier doll appears on a big screen in the store!

Pictures on screens ~

Always be joyful. Never stop Praying. Be thankful in all circumstances. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Chicago!

Again ~ I LOVE Chicago!!! I have plans to return this summer. It was such a fun place to do lots of fun things! We arrived at our hotel around 4 in the afternoon and our plans for the evening included getting settled in our room and relaxing. The girls all competed Friday morning at 8am so we knew it was going to be an early morning! After we got everything settled in our room(and the girls had a pillow fight!), we explored the hotel! It was huge (17 floors!) & the girls loved riding the elevator! They were having a Managers Reception (free drinks & snacks) so we decided to head down to the lobby and let the kids hang out and have Shirley Temples and chips & salsa while us adults had our "adult" beverages! We ordered Room Service for supper and called it a night!

Saturday we went to American Girl. I will be posting about this later as it deserves it's own post!! So much fun! We had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory and did a little shopping down Michigan Avenue with Shannon & Alexa and Megan & Sophie before Alexa's meet!

Way to go Alexa!!!!!
As we were leaving Alexa's meet Navy Pier looked awesome all lit up!
