Science Fun

Last Friday Emma's 1st & 2nd grade class took a field trip to the Science Center in Des Moines. We got there around 9:30 am and started with Orientation.They had two workshops scheduled during the day; Chemistry Creations Lab and Fire and Ice. There was a little bit of free time before the Chemistry Creations so we headed up to a presentation in the Star Theater.


The Chemisty Creations Lab is where they used their previous knowledge of the states of matter and senses to observe the changes that took place through chemical reactions.

The Fire and Ice Presentation was interesting and fun. They learned how fog is made from dry ice and water. We witnessed first hand the freezing property of nitrogen on rubber and latex balloons. Then the use of fire with the gas hydrogen.
