It is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.

Science Center

Saturday we took a family trip to the Science Center of Iowa. The girls had been wanting to go back for a while now so we thought that would be a fun activity to do while Jason was home!

Here are the girls making a rocket. This is always a fun activity to do and we learned that I am much better at making paper rockets than Jason! ;)
Getting ready to launch their rockets!

Egg Drop
Next we went to the IMAX Theater to watch Wild OceanIt was a great documentary of the KwaZulu-Natal Wild Coast of Africa where it meets the sea! We learned how a feeding frenzy forces underwater life to find balance with humankind and Mother Nature.
You can watch the Preview Here

Next we learned about chemical and physical reactions by watching demonstrations with dry ice and liquid nitrogen in Deep Freeze.

If you had dry ice to room temperature water it makes fog!
We also learned how adding dry ice to different substances can change it's appearance or color and that having a control can help make it easier to see the change!
If you put a balloon into liquid nitrogen the cooling of the gas causes the molecules to slow down and the particles to shrink  allowing it to deflate and fit into the glass.
And when it is put back into room temperature the gas warms up and the molecules speed up causing particles expand and the balloon returns to it's original size!
When liquid nitrogen is poured onto the floor it immediately changes from a liquid to a gas and evaporates!
Feeling the cold floor
More fun with liquid nitrogen

What On Earth
Who Weather Studio
Why the Sky and Star Theater
In the Star Theater we watched Dawn of the Space Age where we traveled through time to see the Space Race between the United States and Russia & learned about the status of space travel today!

Cold Blooded Critters
Small Discoveries
We investigated the world of electrons and their role in electricity during a presentation called Zap

Before we left we stopped in the A-Ha! Store and the girls
had their first experience with Astronaut Ice Cream!
(freeze dried ice cream)
& They LOVED it! :)

We will celebrate and praise you, Lord!
You are good to us,
and your love never fails.
No one can praise you enough for all
of the mighty things you have done.
