Emma's class took a field trip to Stephens Auditorium in Ames to see a presentation by Viver Brazil. Feet on the Ground took us on a cultural journey through Brazil where we learned about ceremonial celebrations and the Brazilian martial arts/ dance form of capoeira. We really enjoyed seeing the stunning costumes they wore and listening to the percussion and voices of the performers!
During the performance we were encouraged to participate by clapping and answering their calls with song. At the end of the performance some of the students were invited on stage to learn some of the dance. Emma was one of those students and had so much fun. What an amazing experience- I am so happy I was able to be there with them!
